Introduction
The course provides a framework for understanding and interpreting the economic and financial issues in relation to the construction industry, construction firms, and construction projects. The course covers the economic theories of development and construction of built facilities and infrastructure and the roles of these processes in the general economy. Participants will benefit by gaining a better understanding of the conceptual frameworks of economic analysis that underlie a variety of approaches to practical problems encountered in the construction process.
This course forms part of a series of short courses that been developed to expand on our current offerings on construction project management within the School of Construction Economics and Management. With the planned expansion of South Africa’s infrastructure across a number of economic sectors in support of the National Development Plan, these courses provide niche offerings to service the demand for world class professionals in fixed infrastructure delivery.
